Slate or tile - choosing between them
Natural slate has the longest service life and suits period and prestige properties, at a higher material cost. Concrete and clay tiles cover most budgets and offer huge choice in profile and colour. For re-roofs we can discuss reclaimed slate as well as new.
Older roofs need care
Period roofs often use irregular or reclaimed slates, lime mortar bedding and traditional detailing. We understand those materials and repair them in keeping with the property - important for listed buildings and conservation areas.

- Can you match my existing slates or tiles?
- In most cases, yes. We source matching materials - including reclaimed slate where appropriate - so repairs blend in. Where an exact match is not possible we will tell you before starting.
- Do slipped slates mean I need a new roof?
- Usually not. Slipped slates are commonly caused by nail corrosion and are straightforward to repair. We will assess the overall condition and advise honestly.
